Quite simply GastroView is a window onto your stomach‘s health. This examination, which only requires a simple finger prick sample has been developed by Finnish public company, Biohit Oyj and has recently been introduced to complement its range of laboratory, clinic and theatre tests. The test measures a number of parameters (H. pylori, Pepsinogen I and Pepsinogen II) and provides an insight into the health of your stomach, including infection with H. pylori and development of atrophic gastritis.
Helicobacter pylori infection is the most important cause of chronic gastritis. H. pylori is a spiral shaped, gram-negative bacterium that colonizes the human stomach in about half the world‘s population. The organism is found in the mucous layer of the stomach lining and it does not appear to invade tissue. However, the mucosa layer beneath the area of the H. pylori colonization is invariably inflamed; this condition is referred to as a chronic superficial or non-atrophic gastritis, which, if untreated persists for life.
GastroView helps to rule out damage associated with H. pylori infection and to reassure you that your stomach is funtioning normally.
